If a nonprofit organization is not found through Chariot's [Search Organizations](/api/organizations/search) endpoint, you can submit a [Verification Request](/api/verification-requests/create) to have Chariot's compliance team review and verify the organization. The request requires the organization's EIN, name, and mailing address. You can optionally provide a website URL and contact email. You can track the status of the verification request by polling the [GET Verification Request](/api/verification-requests/get) endpoint or by subscribing to `verification_request.updated` [webhook events](/api/webhooks). For more details, see [Disbursing to Unlisted Organizations](/guides/disbursements/how-it-works#disbursing-to-unlisted-organizations). #### What if a nonprofit is ineligible for disbursements? If a nonprofit is ineligible for disbursements, the organization's `organization.compliance.daf_eligible` field will be `false`. The organization will not be able to receive disbursements from grantmakers. If you believe that the organization should be eligible for disbursements, please reach out to [Compliance](mailto:compliance@givechariot.com). #### What are nonprofits charged for using Chariot Disbursements? We strongly recommend that nonprofits sign up for a free account with Chariot to receive future disbursements electronically. ![](/_fern-img/562de6d4b529063fe489df0ca591cdcc15165c14487876c63456b2b2aedbec04.webp) ### Electronic (ACH, RTP, etc.) If a nonprofit has an account with Chariot, they can receive payments electronically to their verified bank account. Chariot is able to present a consolidated view of all payments received by the nonprofit in their dashboard across all grantmakers. In this case, a payment may settle almost instantly. ![](/_fern-img/f658306915416732d0f26d9542142ace6b1f99f1c39ad61926e599a57f256a0c.webp) #### How to handle returned checks? If a check is returned, the Disbursement's check submission status will be `returned`. If the check was returned because the mailing address was outdated, the grantmaker can let Chariot's compliance team know in order to update the most recent mailing address. Afterwards, a disbursement can be resubmitted. > Answers to common questions about Chariot Disbursements
