# Sources

A **Source** is the provider or platform responsible for facilitating a payment and providing access to its data — Fidelity Charitable, Benevity, or any other giving platform.

A donation or deposit can carry a Source ID that tells you where it came from.

Use Sources to:

* Look up the provider behind a donation or deposit.
* Browse the providers and platforms Chariot recognizes.
